The Film and Video Center of the National Museum
of the American Indian is pleased to announce the launch of
a new feature article,a new feature article on the "Native
Networks/Redes Indigenas" website: "Mapping Mexican
Media: Indigenous and Community Video and Radio," by Amalia
Córdova and Gabriela Zamorano. The article gives a regional
overview of Mexican indigenous video production and radio. Links
and resource lists on the site include profiles of 10 Native
media makers, descriptions and links to 20 indigenous media
organizations and film festivals, and descriptions of nearly
50 Native Mexican works that have been screened by NMAI since
1995. "Native Networks/Redes Indigenas," produced
by NMAI's Film and Video Center, is a bilingual website for
Native film, video, radio, television, and new media throughout
the Americas, and is the only Internet site covering this information.
This new feature was launched at the Morelia International Film
Festival in Michoacán, Mexico, during a day-long program
on Mexican, US and world indigenous film. To access the webpage
go to www.nativenetworks.si.edu (English) or www.redesindigenas.si.edu
(Spanish), and click on "Closeups," then "Regions."
